Body: Competitive pricing along with good customer ratings was why I placed the order for this high-speed Kyocera Mita laser printer and subsequent expansion module with PC&L. It impressed me that after placing the order I was contacted for particulars around delivery to ensure same day shipment. At that time I asked for an estimated arrival date. Product arrived as promised. Email updates were great, and I appreciate this little detail "Thank you again for your order". This is not a reflection on PC&L, but I find it obnoxious that Kyocera Mita does not document the specification for the expansion memory. When I emailed Kyocera Mita I was referred to support, when I called support they did not have the information. As far as I can tell there is a 300% markup on the 1GB option compared to generic "144-pin, ddr2" memory module. PC&L does not provide support, at least when I clicked on the support tab/link it seems to direct me to the manufacturer. When I contacted sales about the memory module they said they never succeeded in making generic memory work in these printers. PC&L's web site does not make it easy to compare "high speed color laser" printers across model years, models and brands.

Body: I would have liked to have a "Shopping Cart" to hold my selection until I made up my mind. Selecting an item then researching it, then going back and selecting it again was a little tedious. The search was a bit cumbersome, but I found what I needed, eventually. Prices were the biggest draw as they were considerably less than some other sites. Offering a "Compare selected" feature would be helpful, too. Basically the website was fairly bare bones and really should be updated. Outside of that, though, the purchase was very easy, and I received an email with a tracking number the same day that seemed very personal, not just a canned auto message. The printer I ordered was delivered as promised and I would use PC&L again.

Body: Overall, a very good purchase, the FS-1020D is working very well especially for the price. Pages do curl quite a bit. I appreciated a confirmation phonecall after I ordered. In that call I asked if UPS would leave the package at my home address without a signature, and PC&L said they would, but ultimately UPS did not do that, and the shipping info said a signature was required. This was problematic since I had home delivery, I wasnt home during the week, and the pickup address was a 40 minute drive away, one way. Ultimately I had to make special arrangements to be home on a 2nd delivery attempt, only to find that UPS arrived 2 hours later than the last time in the delivery time window they said they would arrive in. No particular problems with PC&L customer service, but I am irked at Kyoceras policies on providing options for expanding the printers memory. Apparently there is only one type of DIMM that they certify as good for the FS-1020D, which is only available through Kyoceras distributers (like PC&L), and seems to be at least twice as expensive on average than other comparable DIMMs with presumably the same specs. I say presumably because they havent been forthcoming on what the specs are. Overall, I dont understand this and have not received a satisfying answer that dissuades me from the idea they might just be trying to unduely profit from memory sales. As usual though, the negatives are sticking in my mind more than the positives, so take this stuff with a grain of salt. By and large, Im happy with the purchase. It is a well-built, sturdy printer with lots of expandibility.

Im going to try one of the Kyocera ceramic knives, because Ive use the ceramic scissors (yes) which are essential if youre cutting Kevlar twine, rope or fabric. Good service and good products. Once you've bought a Kyocera FS-1800 printer it costs you next to nothing to run, and the print quality is excellent. A long term intelligent Man's buy. I would recommend upgrading the printers internal memory to 24MB though for the large complex postscript print jobs - it will then fly.
